Wonder

I wonder how you see me

each day I walk in, ready.

I wonder if you all know

how much I worry over you

as I prepare each lesson, carefully.

I wonder if you can see

how much I admire your eagerness,

and how it feeds my soul.

I wonder how you will remember

our short time together; this year.

I wonder what will stand out

in the memories of your childhood.

I wonder if you will still

see me with the same eyes

when you are an adult yourself.

And if you will smile remembering

our time shared, these precious days,

and wonder how I am doing...

  1. Love. Love. Love. You should copy this and put it in every teacher's mailbox!! As a fellow teacher, I wonder all those same things. You just said it more beautifully than I could...thank you!! :)

  2. I agree with Kristi. This really encapsulates what all parents and teachers of young children feel. Very beautiful.

and the way you walked in ready
Because you took the time, wondering.

  7. Love this! And I wonder about my elementary school teachers a lot. I think the dedication of our teachers is kind of thing that you can't fully appreciate until you are an adult, though.

  8. I bet your students do know you care and worry over them! It's the teachers that make the extra effort that stand out for me in my memories. They are the ones that made an impact.
